Temporary closures to occur on Maxwell Road Bridge
Bridge will be closed between 7:30 AM and 2:30 PM on March 9th & 10th
PORTLAND, Maine – On Wednesday, March 9, 2016 and Thursday, March 10, 2016, Maxwell Road Bridge in Sabattus, that crosses over the Maine Turnpike, will be closed between the hours of 7:30 AM and 2:30 PM. The temporary closure is needed so that engineers can do geotechnical borings on Maxwell Road adjacent to the bridge. This work is part of a 2017 project that will consist of rehabbing the Maxwell Road Bridge superstructure, including repairs to the concrete deck, new pavement wearing surface, concrete substructure modifications and approach work.
Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of the closures, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. All work is weather dependent and motorists will need to seek alternate routes during hours of the closures. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.
