Southbound Ramp Closures Scheduled at Exit 75 in Auburn

Interchange Bridge Repairs to Cause Overnight Ramp Closures Beginning Sunday, August 19

PORTLAND, Maine – Maine Turnpike motorists are advised to prepare for overnight southbound ramp closures at Exit 75 in Auburn beginning Sunday, August 19, for the repair of damaged steel girders.  The evening closures are for both the southbound on and off ramps and are scheduled for Sunday through Thursday night for several weeks.  The closures are scheduled to begin each night at 10:00 p.m. and will last through 5:30 a.m.  During the closures a signed detour will be available.

Motorists should prepare alternate travel routes during the closures. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of closures, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.

The $125,000 project, awarded to Scott Construction of Falmouth, began in July 2012 and includes heat straightening of damaged beams due to over height bridge hits at Exit 75 Bridge in Auburn.  The project will be completed in the fall of 2012.
