Exit 53 Bridge Repairs to Force Overnight Off-Ramp Closures
Northbound and Southbound off-ramp closures at Exit 53 Interchange Thursday night (10/11)
PORTLAND, Maine – On Thursday, October 11, the northbound and southbound off-ramps at Exit 53 in West Falmouth will be closed overnight for paving. The two off-ramps are scheduled to close at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, and will reopen at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12.
Motorists should prepare alternate travel routes during the closures. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of closures, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.
The $3.9 million project, awarded to Technical Construction Inc. of Turner, began in August 2011 and includes raising and widening of the bridge and repairs to all of its ramps. The project will be completed in this fall with very little impact to the traveling public following this overnight ramp closure.
