Bridge Repairs to Force Nightly Southbound Traffic Stops 25-minute traffic stops at mile 94 between Augusta and L/A

Bridge Repairs to Force Nightly Southbound Traffic Stops 25-minute traffic stops at mile 94 between Augusta and L/A each overnight this week

PORTLAND, Maine – Maine Turnpike motorists will encounter intermittent 25-minute traffic stops southbound at mile 94 in Litchfield Monday through Thursday evenings starting at 10:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m., weather permitting. Multiple traffic stops are needed to accommodate repairs to the bridge that carries traffic from Route 197 in Litchfield over the Turnpike, without jeopardizing motorist or worker safety.

Motorists should be prepared for significant trip delays or seek alternate routes. Alternate travel routes include:

  • Departing the Maine Turnpike at Exit 103 and taking either Route 9 West to Sabattus Interchange 86, or
  • Departing the Maine Turnpike at Exit 103 and continuing southbound on I-295 to Exit 11. This takes travelers to the Maine Turnpike’s Falmouth Spur Interchange at mile 53.

Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of traffic stops, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers.

The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding.
