Maine Turnpike Hires New Chief Administrative Officer

Portland, Maine – Maine Turnpike Executive Director Andre Briere has announced that Erin Sullivan (formerly Erin Courtney) will serve as the new Chief Administrative Officer for Maine Turnpike Authority. This newly created position was established by the Executive Director to enhance internal coordination and strategic leadership.

In her new role, Ms. Sullivan will oversee MTA’s Human Resources, E-ZPass Customer Service, and Communications departments. She will join the Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer, along with the Executive Director, as part of the leadership team responsible for guiding the agency and setting its strategic direction.

“We conducted a nationwide search to fill this role, and I am pleased that we were able to select one of our own,” said Executive Director Briere. “Erin is an exceptional team member. From the moment I met her, she has played a key role in helping to improve our workplace and better serve our customers.”

Ms. Sullivan holds a B.A. and M.A. in Communication, as well as an MBA, all from the University of Maine. She also earned a Public Leadership Credential from Harvard Kennedy School. She has worked at the MTA for nearly 14 years and has held several positions within the Communications Department, most recently serving as Director. She served as the WTS-Maine chapter president for two consecutive terms, from 2020 through 2024. She credits much of her professional growth and leadership development to the organization, which advances the transportation industry through the advancement of women.

“I’m honored to step into this new role at a time of transformation for the Turnpike,” said Sullivan. “The Maine Turnpike plays a vital role in our state’s economy and quality of life. I look forward to working with our leadership team to strengthen internal operations, support our workforce, and ensure we continue delivering meaningful service to the people of Maine,” said Sullivan.

Ms. Sullivan officially began her new position on July 21, 2025. During a brief transition period, Ms. Sullivan will continue to fulfill select responsibilities from her previous role while the Director of Communications position is being advertised. MTA Public Relations Manager Rebecca Grover will serve as Interim Director of Communications during this time.
