  • “With a fully self-sufficient system and two-thirds of tolls paid by visitors, the current Maine Turnpike Authority structure is a very good deal for Maine. Replacing Turnpike toll revenue with state tax revenue would be equivalent to a 27-cent per gallon (or 90%) fuel tax hike in Maine. That just doesn’t make sense for the safety, wallets, or economic opportunity of all Maine people.”

    Jake Lachance, Executive Director
    Maine Better Transportation Association

  • “Calling the Turnpike ‘gold plated’ misses the point. It’s engineered for safety, sized for the traffic it carries, and vital to our economy, moving over half of Maine’s freight and visitors every year.”

    Brian Parke, President & CEO
    Maine Motor Transport Association

  • “There’s a common misconception that the Maine Turnpike is supported by state tax dollars. In reality, it uses zero tax dollars. The Turnpike is funded entirely by tolls, a true user fee that ensures the people who rely on it help maintain it. That’s how we keep Maine’s busiest highway strong and dependable year after year.”

    Kelly Flagg, Executive Director
Associated General Contractors of Maine (AGC Maine)
