Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA), Maine’s Gold Star Memorial Highway, is seeking a Systems Architect. The Systems Architect supports MTA’s technology operations by analyzing user and business requirements, evaluating existing systems and workflows, and planning, developing, testing, and documenting solutions that improve operations across the Authority. This position also researches and evaluates information technology products needed to support effective system solutions. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, with 5+ years of applied programming experience in a highly complex business environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in the design, management, and implementation of software systems, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. Experience developing workflow diagrams, technical documentation, and system solutions is highly valued.
The Systems Architect will work closely with MTA departments and Application Developers to identify needs, resolve system issues, improve workflows, and coordinate the development, testing, installation, and modification of programs. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to explain technical information to managers, employees, and business partners. The position requires extended computer work, occasional travel to MTA sites, and flexibility to work non-routine hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends when needed.
The position is classified at a Range 19, $93,683 to $154,357 commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package including health and dental insurance, retirement plan, health reimbursement account; paid vacation and sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.
