Business Accounts Processor
The Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA), Maine’s Gold Star Memorial Highway, is seeking a Business Accounts Specialist. The Business Accounts Specialist supports the administrative and financial operations of the Maine Turnpike Authority by managing all aspects of daily processing for MTA’s commercial E-ZPass Business Accounts. This position provides critical operational support for account creation, plan setups (Prepaid and Post-paid), account maintenance, monthly billing, and receivable aging analysis. The Business Accounts Specialist serves as a key financial liaison, reconciling daily credit card postings, assisting with insurance bond reviews to ensure receivable coverage, and delivering high-quality, direct support to MTA’s commercial patrons.
The ideal candidate will hold an associate’s degree (A.S.) accompanied by 2 to 5 years of related accounting experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Recent experience with Accounts Receivable (A/R) processing is highly desirable, and prior experience with toll entity billing is preferred. Candidates should possess intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to develop a strong working knowledge of the E-ZPass Program software and data system interfaces.
The role demands strong working knowledge of accounting procedures, financial reconciliation, and basic mathematical operations. The Business Accounts Specialist should be skilled in analyzing financial data, auditing payment batches, defining problems, and maintaining collaborative working relationships. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential to effectively interact with patrons, MTA staff, and MTA management on a daily basis.
