Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA), Maine’s Gold Star Memorial Highway, is seeking an Application Developer. The Application Developer supports MTA’s technology operations by designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software applications in client/server, mobile, and web environments. This position works closely with the Information Services team to translate business and user requirements into effective application solutions.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, with 3+ years of recent relevant programming and application development experience in a highly complex business environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in the implementation of client/server software systems, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. Experience working with relational databases, developing workflow diagrams, testing applications, and preparing technical documentation is highly valued.

The Application Developer will work closely with the Systems Architect, other Application Developers, and MTA departments to identify needs, develop and implement applications, troubleshoot system issues, improve workflows, and maintain software after implementation. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to prepare technical documentation and explain information to managers, employees, and business partners. The position requires extended computer work, occasional travel to MTA sites, and flexibility to work non-routine hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends when needed.

The position is classified at a Range 18, $88,525 to $145,808 commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package including health and dental insurance, retirement plan, health reimbursement account; paid vacation and sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.
