West Gardiner/I-295 ORT Plaza now open
New plaza offers two highway speed lanes in both directions
WEST GARDINER–Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA) today announced the opening of its newest Open Road Tolling (ORT) plaza, located in West Gardiner, Maine. This plaza is accessed via Exit 103 southbound on the Maine Turnpike and by motorists traveling northbound on I-295 headed to I-95. The new plaza offers E-ZPass users to pay their tolls while traveling at highway speeds of 70 miles per hour with two ORT lanes in each direction. Standard toll booths remain available to the right for those choosing to pay cash.
Motorists should be aware that anyone wishing to take Exit 51 southbound must go through the cash lanes, not the ORT lanes. Please drive cautiously as this is still an active work zone and drivers are getting used to the new traffic pattern.
This $30 million project, awarded to Sargent Corporation from Stillwater, Maine, began in May of 2019.
