Service Plaza Renovations: Cumberland and Gray

Project Information PDF

The Gray and Cumberland Service Plazas will temporarily close for renovations beginning Monday, March 21, 2016 for approximately nine weeks.  The Gray Service Plaza (located at Mile 59 northbound on the Maine Turnpike) and the Cumberland Service Plaza (located at Mile 58 southbound) will be closed in order to remove Starbucks and install a 24-hour Burger King with a Drive-Thru in both locations.  The $3 million project will be completed in time for the summer tourist season and is currently anticipated to open by Memorial Day.  As part of a long term effort to improve the customer experience, the MTA is offering more hot food options at these two plazas and the convenience of a Drive-Thru.

During the renovations sanitary facilities will be closed.  Motorists will need to seek alternate locations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  Maine Turnpike service plazas in West Gardiner and Kennebunk will remain open during this time. Please check back for periodic updates.
