Project Scope:  This project includes repairs to various bridges between Mile 45 and 67 of the Maine Turnpike and also includes the superstructure replacement of the Dutton Hill bridge in Gray. Below is a description of the work at each location.

Blackstrap Road Bridge, Cumberland
The project includes bridge repairs to the Blackstrap Road Bridge over the Maine Turnpike at Mile 58.3 in the Town of Cumberland. The repairs will include replacement of the bridge wearing surface, work on the bridge joints and repairs to the concrete deck and substructure. During the repairs, the Blackstrap Road Bridge will be reduced to one way alternating traffic with a temporary traffic signal.
 
Dutton Hill Bridge, Gray

This  project  consists  of  replacing  the Dutton Hill bridge superstructure over the Maine Turnpike  at  Mile 59.9 in  the  Town  of Gray. The rehabilitation of the bridge includes replacement and  raising  of  the  existing  bridge  structure  to  provide  a  minimum  vertical   clearance   of   15’6”,   and repair  of  the  existing    abutments  and piers.  The bridge  will  be closed to traffic for approximately 6 months during  the  construction  of the improvements.  Due to additional unexpected repairs to the bridge, Dutton Hill bridge will be closed for approximately three weeks in the spring of 2019.  An updated project info sheet can be viewed here.

It also includes reconstruction of the bridge approaches to  match the  raised bridge structure and construction of an emergency vehicle access ramp to provide a connection to the northbound lanes of the turnpike for MTA maintenance vehicles.  A ramp will also be constructed to access the turnpike southbound lanes from Forest Lake Road located opposite Cottage Road. This work will not require closure of the bridge and will begin this winter. 


Running Hill Road Bridge, Scarborough
The project includes bridge repairs to the Running Hill Road Bridge over the Maine Turnpike at Mile 45.4 in the City of South Portland. The repairs will include replacement of the bridge wearing surface, work on the bridge joints and repairs to the concrete deck and substructure. During the repairs, the Running Hill Road Bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction.
 
Weymouth Road Bridge, Gray
The project includes bridge repairs to the Weymouth Road Bridge over the Maine Turnpike at Mile 66.2, as well as the construction of emergency vehicle ramps to provide a connection to the southbound and northbound lanes of the turnpike for emergency and MTA maintenance vehicles. The repairs will include raising of the bridge to avoid future vehicle hits, reconstruction of the roadway approaches, replacement of the bridge wearing surface and repairs to the concrete deck and substructure.  The bridge will  be  closed to traffic for approximately 8 weeks during  the  construction  of the improvements.
