Overnight detours next week on Turnpike in West Gardiner

PORTLAND, Maine – Next week motorists traveling at night on the Maine Turnpike in West Gardiner should prepare for mainline detours around the Exit 103 interchange bridge.

From 10:00 PM on Monday, February 4, until 5:00 AM Tuesday morning, all motorists traveling northbound will be detoured off the mainline onto the Exit 102 northbound ramp where they may follow a route to re-enter the turnpike to continue towards Augusta via the Exit 103 toll plaza on I-295.

From 10:00 PM on Tuesday, February 5, until 5:00 AM Wednesday morning, all motorists traveling southbound will be diverted from the mainline onto the Exit 103 southbound ramp where they may follow a detour route to re-enter the turnpike to continue towards Lewiston via the Exit 102 southbound on ramp from the rotary in front of the service plaza.

This work is necessary to place steel girders on the Exit 103 interchange bridge.

Customers who are detoured during this construction will not be double charged.  E-ZPass accounts will be adjusted automatically.

Cash customers will be given a receipt at the first location to present at the second toll for credit.

All work is weather dependent.  The night of Wednesday, February 6, 2019, is reserved as a rain date. Message boards will inform approaching travelers of the detour and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.
