Overnight ramp closures at Exit 63 in Gray

Closures necessary for paving as part of the Gray Interchange Project

PORTLAND, Maine –  Beginning Sunday evening, August 27, overnight closures will occur at Exit 63 Interchange in Gray for paving. The closures are expected to last for four evenings, weather permitting.  Only one interchange ramp will be closed at a time, beginning with the southbound off-ramp on Sunday from 10 PM to 5 AM.  On Monday, work will continue on the Route 202 bridge and Tuesday evening the northbound on-ramp is scheduled to be closed. Wendesday evening, the northbound off-ramp will be closed.  All closures will will occur between the hours of 10 PM and 5 AM.   VMS boards will be placed in advance to notify motorists of which ramp will be closed each night.  Motorists should seek alternate routes if necessary. 

This work is part of the Exit 63 Interchange improvement project.  The project started in 2016 and includes new southbound ramps and a new southbound toll plaza on the west side of the Maine Turnpike.  It also included the removal of a bridge over the turnpike and improvements to the Route 202 Bridge.  Shaw Brothers Construction, Inc. is the contractor for this $10.7 million project that is anticipated to be complete this fall.
