2010 Questionnaire

The MTA is surveying Turnpike drivers to gather information for future planning. Temporary stop signs will be at on-ramps in August and survey cards will be handed out. The cards contain 15 questions that can be answered quickly; please complete and mail yours to the Maine Turnpike Authority (cards are postage-paid & pre-addressed).

General Note for questions 1 thru 9 - For our purpose a “trip” is a one way outing on the turnpike. So if you go back and forth to work in one day, you have taken two “trips”.

  1. Date of trip when the survey card was handed to you.
  2. Address where your trip started (not point at which you picked up the card).
  3. Description of location noted in #2.
  4. The on-ramp where you entered the Turnpike and picked up the survey card. Identify by either the interchange number (i.e. “Exit 45”) or description (i.e. “Maine Mall exit”).
  5. The off-ramp where you exited the Turnpike.
  6. Address where your trip ended. It should be the first stop you made after receiving the survey card.
  7. Description of location noted in #6.
  8. self-explanatory
  9. Total number of people in the vehicle; driver plus all passengers.
  10. If you drive through the York Toll Plaza every weekday, you should check “almost every day”.
  11. If you travel on the Maine Turnpike about once a week in order to run errands, you should check “a few times per month”.
  12. ZIP code (or postal code for Canadian residents) of your primary residence.
  13. Indicate if you own an E-ZPass. If ‘Yes’, congratulations! You have completed the survey.
  14. Description of why do not own an E-ZPass.
  15. If Open Road Tolling (ORT) is implemented (this allows E-ZPass customers to maintain highway speeds rather than stopping at toll locations) would would you purchase an E-ZPass or continue to use cash?

In answering these questions, if you aren’t sure of an address, write the place and town (i.e. Maine Mall, South Portland). If you aren’t sure of an exit number, write the town name (i.e. Falmouth).

To reward participants, MTA will be giving away $25.00 visa gift cards to 100 survey takers. To be entered into the drawing for your chance to win, simply provide your address in the bottom right corner of the survey card in the line provided. Your address will not be used for any other purpose.

Thank you for your input!
