Shaker Hill Rd (Route 26) in Gray to Close on August 7
14-day closure needed to raise bridge over the Maine Turnpike
GRAY, Maine- Beginning on Wednesday, August 7th the Shaker Road Bridge (Route 26) that goes over the Maine Turnpike in Gray will be closed for repairs. It is anticipated to be closed for up to 14 days. There will be a signed detour during the closure using routes 202 and 26A.
This project includes raising the bridge to include future vehicle hits, reconstruction of the roadway approaches, replacement of the bridge wearing surface and repairs to the concrete deck substructure. Since this spring the traffic on the bridge has been alternating one way controlled by a signal. Scott Construction Corporation is the contractor repairing the bridge.
Variable Message Signs are in place to inform travelers of the detour. Motorists should prepare to seek alternate routes during this closure. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during construction.
