Schedule Change for Evening Pavement Work at Exit 42 and Exit 45

Motorists advised to seek and prepare to use alternate routes

PORTLAND, Maine – The project contractor has implemented a revised schedule for pavement improvements at Exit 42 (Scarborough) and Exit 45 (Maine Mall Road) due to the weather. The following ramp closures will take place Tuesday evening, May 21, between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
Exit 42 (Scarborough)

  • 8:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. The northbound off-ramp for traffic exiting the Turnpike
  • 1:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. The southbound off-ramp for traffic exiting the Turnpike
  • Lane closures will also be in place near the toll plaza during ramp closures
Exit 45 (Maine Mall Road)
  • 8:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. The southbound off-ramp for traffic exiting the Turnpike
  • 1:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. The northbound off-ramp for traffic exiting the Turnpike
Ramp closures at Exits 42 and 45 will be coordinated so traffic can enter and exit at Exit 42 or Exit 45 when the similar ramp at Exit 45 or Exit 42 is closed. The temporary closures are necessary to allow crews to safely complete pavement upgrades and are scheduled at night to minimize impact to traffic. All times are approximate.
The Turnpike Authority reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit approaching work zones and plan for extra time to safely reach their destinations through alternate routes.
