Route 126 Bridge in West Gardiner Reopens to Two Way Traffic

PORTLAND, Maine – The Route 126 Bridge in West Gardiner reopened to two-way traffic today.  Construction on the bridge began in May.  Work on the bridge consisted of rehabbing the Route 126 Bridge superstructure, which also included repairs to the concrete deck, new pavement wearing surface, concrete substructure modifications and approach work.  Construction was done while keeping the bridge open to one-way alternating traffic with a signalized light.
The Maine Turnpike greatly appreciates motorist patience during the construction.  The $878,266 project was awarded to Scott Construction Inc. of Falmouth.  The bridge reopened ahead of schedule, with the substantial completion for the project scheduled for November 15, 2014.
