Motorists advised to expect delays or seek alternate routes

PORTLAND, Maine – Weather permitting, crews will continue pavement upgrades this week to the Exit 42 (Scarborough) and Exit 45 (Maine Mall Road - Payne Road) interchanges. The temporary closures are scheduled at night to minimize impact to traffic. All times are approximate.

Wednesday evening, July 17, all on-ramps and off-ramps at Exit 42 (Scarborough) will intermittently close between 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning at 6:00.

Portable electronic message boards are now in place near the work areas to alert drivers of the ramp closures.

Turnpike travelers can expect additional ramp closures throughout the week at Exit 42 (Scarborough) and more possibly at Exit 45 (Maine Mall Road - Payne Road). Motorists can check MaineTurnpike.com, or call 800-675-PIKE (7453), for updated information. Updated schedules will also be available by following the MTA on Facebook or Twitter.

The Turnpike Authority reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit approaching work zones and plan for extra time to safely reach their destinations through alternate routes.
