Overnight stoppages to continue this week for placement of structural steel at Cummings Road Bridge in Scarborough
SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Beginning at 7:00 PM tonight, Tuesday, July 16, intermittent stoppages will occur on Cummings Road in Scarborough. These stoppages are necessary in order for construction crews to unload bridge girders being delivered to the construction site. This structural steel will then be placed during Wednesday evening's stoppages.
Beginning at 10:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, northbound traffic will experience stops of up to 25 minutes at mile 44 on the Maine Turnpike for the placement of structural steel at the Cummings Road Bridge. Coinciding with the mainline stoppages, traffic on Cummings Road will also be held. The stoppages are scheduled to occur both Wednesday and Thursday nights between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning.
All work is weather dependent. Motorists should prepare for delays or seek alternate travel routes during the stoppages. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.
