Overnight Traffic Stops Tuesday in West Gardiner

Twenty-five minute stoppages planned to continue bridge repairs

PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine Turnpike Authority advises Turnpike motorists planning southbound travel through West Gardiner Tuesday, January 22, to plan for intermittent traffic stops of up to 25 minutes between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Maine State Police will occasionally stop southbound traffic at mile 102 to allow work crews to safely repair overhead bridge girders without jeopardizing motorist or worker safety.

The work is weather sensitive and may be delayed or rescheduled. The rain, or snow, date is scheduled for Wednesday overnight, January 23, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Motorists should be prepared for trip delays or seek alternate travel routes. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of traffic stops, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers.

The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding.
