Overnight Stoppages at Mile 55 Northbound in Falmouth Beginning Monday Night (12/1)

20-minute northbound stoppages Monday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 2

PORTLAND, Maine – Beginning Monday evening, December 1, 2014, intermittent traffic stops of up to 20-minutes will occur northbound on the Maine Turnpike at Mile 55 in Falmouth for repairs to one of the Piscataqua River Bridges.  Stoppages are scheduled to occur for two nights: Monday, December 1, 2014 and Tuesday, December 2, 2014.  A series of up to 20-minute stoppages will occur each night between 7:00 p.m. and will last until 5:00 a.m. the following morning. Additional closures will follow for repairs to the other Piscataqua River Bridge at Mile 56.

All work is weather dependent.  Motorists should prepare for delays or seek alternate travel routes during the stoppages. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of stoppages, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.
