Nighttime stoppages on Turnpike in Scarborough

Nighttime stoppages on Turnpike in Scarborough begin tonight (for two nights)

Exit 44 Ramp to be closed Thursday evening from 10 PM and 5 AM

PORTLAND, Maine – Beginning tonight, November 28, 2018, at 10:00 PM, traffic stops of up to 25-minutes will occur northbound in Scarborough at Mile 43.6 on the Maine Turnpike mainline for the placement of overhead sign structures.  A series of up to 25-minute stoppages will occur tonight between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning.

In addition to the sign structure at Mile 43.6, an overhead sign structure will be placed at Mile 44.2 in Scarborough.  In order to erect the sign structure, the Exit 44/I-295 northbound on-ramp will be closed Thursday evening between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning.  Traffic will be detoured to use Exit 45 during the ramp closure.

All work is weather dependent.  Motorists should prepare for delays or seek alternate travel routes during the stoppages. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of closures and detours, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.
