MTA opens new Park and Ride at Exit 63 in Gray

-- Old lot to close on January 22, 2016--

PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine Turnpike Authority is pleased to announce the new Park and Ride lot at Exit 63 in Gray, Maine is now open.  The new lot is located on the east side of Route 26A across from the Northbrook Business Park and an increased capacity of over 40 percent with a total of 129 spaces.  The old lot, opposite of Route 26A at the intersection with Route 202, will remain open through next Friday, January 22, 2016.  “The old  park and ride lot has been very successful and near or at capacity routinely,” said Bruce Van Note, Director of Policy and Planning. “The new park and ride will allow for improved traffic operations and safety in the vicinity of the Route 202 intersection and the toll plaza.”

Construction of the expanded Park and Ride was the first step in a larger project to redesign the Exit 63 interchange in Gray.  The contract is currently out to bid and is expected to be awarded at the end of this month.  Construction will begin within the coming weeks and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2017. The work will include removing the southbound exit ramp/bridge over I-95 and relocating the southbound ramps to the west side of the turnpike.  It will also include construction of a new three lane Toll Plaza along the relocated southbound on-ramp.
