Leighton Road Bridge Closing Tuesday for Final Pavement Work
Closure will last for several days to complete 2012 rehabilitation project
PORTLAND, Maine – Work is scheduled to start Tuesday morning, May 28, on the Leighton Road Bridge in Falmouth. The bridge, which carries local traffic over the Maine Turnpike, will close for several days as crews safely complete pavement upgrades from the 2012 Leighton Road Bridge rehabilitation project.
Portable electronic message boards will be in place near the project site to alert drivers of the bridge closure. The recommended detour route for motorists is the Mountain Road Bridge.
- Drivers west of the Leighton Road Bridge can use Brook Road, to Mountain Road, to Route 100;
- Drivers east of the Leighton Road Bridge can use Route 100, to Mountain Road, to Brook Road
The Turnpike Authority reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit approaching work zones and plan for extra time to safely reach their destinations through alternate routes.
