Intermittent Traffic Stops Overnight at Mile 70 in New Gloucester

Motorists advised to expect delays or seek alternate routes

PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine Turnpike Authority will conduct intermittent highway traffic stops of up to 25-minutes in both directions at mile 70.8 in New Gloucester during overnight hours, Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 9, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. The stops are necessary for crews to safely remove structural steel from the Snow Hill Road Bridge over the Turnpike.
 
The scheduled rain date is Wednesday evening, July 10.
 
Portable electronic message boards are in place near the work area to alert drivers of upcoming work.
 
The Turnpike Authority reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit approaching work zones and plan for extra time to safely reach their destinations through alternate routes.
