Interchange Repairs to Force Overnight Closures

Southbound on and off ramps at Exit 53 Interchange to be closed Monday & Tuesday nights

PORTLAND, Maine – Maine Turnpike motorists are advised to prepare for overnight southbound
ramp closures at Exit 53 Interchange in West Falmouth next Monday, July 23 and Tuesday, July 24 for
milling of pavement.  Both the southbound on and off ramps will be affected, with closures scheduled to
begin at 8:30 p.m. and lasting through 5:00 a.m. each night.

Motorists should prepare alternate travel routes during the closures. Message boards will be in place to
inform approaching travelers of closures, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM
will also be used to inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and
understanding during this construction.

The $3.9 million project, awarded to Technical Construction Inc. of Turner, began in August 2011 and
includes raising and widening of the bridge and repairs to all of its ramps. The project will be completed
in the fall of 2012.
