Exit 42 Bridge Repairs to Force Daytime and Nighttime Closures

Various Southbound and Northbound ramp closures begin Monday night (10/22)

PORTLAND, Maine – Beginning Monday evening, October 22, there will be various ramp closures at Exit 42 Interchange to allow for milling and paving.  The closures will last through Saturday afternoon, October 27.  Northbound or southbound closures will begin each night at 8:00 p.m. and will last through 2:30 p.m. the following day.  The schedule for ramp closures (weather permitting) is as follows:

  •  Monday, 10/22:           Southbound off-ramp closed, 8:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  •  Tuesday, 10/23:          Southbound off-ramp closed, 8:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  •  Wednesday, 10/24:     Southbound on-ramp closed, 8:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  •  Thursday, 10/25:         Northbound off-ramp closed, 8:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  •  Friday, 10/26:              Northbound off-ramp closed, 8:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
 
Motorists should prepare alternate travel routes during the closures. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of closures, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. The $2.6 million project, awarded to Lane Construction of Westbrook, began in July 2012 and includes interchange ramp and pavement rehabilitation at Exit 42 in Scarborough as well as pavement rehabilitation at Exit 45 in South Portland.
