Exit 102 Bridge Repairs to Force Overnight Stoppages

25-minute southbound stoppages Sunday (1/13) through Thursday (1/17)

PORTLAND, Maine – Beginning Sunday evening, January 13, 2013, 25-minute southbound traffic stops will occur at Mile 102 on the Maine Turnpike due to bridge repairs.  Stoppages are scheduled to begin Sunday night at 10:00 p.m. and will last until 5:00 a.m. each night through Thursday, January 17th.  The traffic stops are necessary in order to perform heat straightening of girders on the Exit 102 bridge that were damaged by a high-load vehicle.

Motorists should prepare alternate travel routes during the closures. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of closures, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.

The $219,000 project, awarded to Wyman & Simpson of Richmond, began in November 2012.  The project is scheduled to be completed in April of 2013.
